Beer Review: Springdale Beer Company’s Be The Beacon
In any industry, pushing the envelope is vital to progression. It’s also an important part of getting noticed while attracting the folks you want to be part of your target market. Springdale Beer Company in Framingham, Massachusetts has been standing out with their with their Limited Edition New England IPA Rotating Series and this year’s rollout is underway. What makes this series unique is an accompanying playlist with tracks inspiring certain beers. It’s a cool thing for any music fan and craft beer connoisseur and the first batch up is the Be The Beacon Hazy IPA inspired by the song “Be More Kind” by the English folk punk troubadour Frank Turner.
The beer is 6.5 % alcohol by volume and as you can tell by the photo above it comes in a tallboy can. It’s made with Mosaic and Citra hops, which is a classic marriage that creates a fruity and somewhat sweet taste. This combination counteracts the bitterness that often encompasses the stereotyped IPA while making it refreshing and palatable. It’s also very smooth, which is great for drinkability with floral notes accenting the complex citrus flavors. This isn’t an overpowering beverage despite its high alcohol content, it’s definitely the kind of beer that I can see chilling with while hanging out with some friends.
