Rob’s Album Of The Week: All Souls’ Songs For The End Of The World
With all of the craziness going on in the world today, it’s not farfetched to think that the end is nigh. This year has seen our everyday lives drastically affected by a worldwide pandemic, civil unrest is at an all-time high and millions of people are out of work. There’s also the giant elephant in the room known as global warming and the people who are supposed to be our leaders are too busy bickering amongst themselves. It only makes sense for an underground rock supergroup to get together and create music about it, right? That’s what All Souls from Los Angeles are doing with their second album, Songs For The End Of The World, that they self-released on October 2.
The quartet behind this release consists of Totimoshi guitarist & vocalist Antonio Aguilar and bassist Meg Castellanos, Fatso Jetson drummer Tony Tornay and Black Elk guitarist Erik Trammell. Together, these West Coast heavy hitters made a record that has plenty of riffs and beats to go around. It’s intense and hard-hitting rock & roll adorned with a dark aura, which makes sense due to the apocalyptic theme. The solos from Trammell are astounding as well, definitely bringing a heavy dose of shred. Listen to music in whatever way you choose, but I recommend turning the volume up pretty loud when you press play on this one.
