Over the course of anyone’s career, major changes will occur at least a few times. Sometimes those changes happen unexpectedly, but they have to happen for the overall good of the entity in order to move forward. That’s what’s been going on with Lowell synthpop act Pvris over the past couple of weeks. Their third album, Use Me, that was released via Warner Records on August 28 begins a new chapter for the band. It also takes their infectious sound to a whole new level of excellence while leaving the senses amazed.

To not beat around the bush, the change in Pvris occurred when lead guitarist Alex Babinski was fired on August 26 because of allegations of sexual misconduct. Rather than examine how much of a scumbag Babinski is, I plan on examining how awesome this new album is. Lynn Gunn’s songwriting has reached its immense potential while the sonic dynamics within each song are stellar. Brian McDonald also keeps the rhythms tight on bass, which adds to the magnitude of the music that’s being resonated. One problem I’ve always had with pop music is how it can often be bland and formulaic, Gunn and McDonald are the antithesis of those feelings.

Is 2020 over yet? I know it’s only September, but I’m ready for this stupid, messed up year to be done with. Would it make it easier if I started marking off the days on a calendar? We only got three months left so…
